WHO ARE WE?

Our
Story

We were just kids when we first felt it — the weight of the world pressing in too early. Some of us battled illness. Others felt the quiet ache of loss, loneliness, or uncertainty. But no matter the story, we shared one truth: we knew what it was like to grow up in moments that didn’t feel fair. What got us through were the little things — a warm meal, a handwritten card, a smile from someone who showed up when we needed it most.

Years later, in the heart of Charlotte, we came together with one question: What if we became the light we once needed?
That simple thought became a movement.

In a world still grappling with inequality, youth homelessness, medical access gaps, and emotional trauma — especially for children — we knew we couldn’t wait for change. We had to be it. So we started small: toy drives, cards, handmade care kits. And slowly, The Little Lights Foundation was born — not just as a nonprofit, but as a promise.

What began in Charlotte is now a growing national network of youth-led chapters, from coast to coast. We lead with heart, act with urgency, and believe that no child should ever feel invisible. Whether it’s delivering sweet treats through our Bright Bites program, offering health outreach on mission trips, or simply showing up — we’re here to be the light.

Because we’ve been there.
And now, we’re here — for them.
